About me

About Dr. Manley

I am originally from Pensacola, Fl. I graduated from Florida State in 1990. Go NOLES!!! I moved to Houston, TX where I lived for about 7 years. I taught 7th grade math for 2 years and 5th grade math for 3 years. The summer of 2001, I moved to Simpsonville, SC. I taught 5th grade at East North Street Academy for 6 years. For 14 years I taught at Bethel Elementary: 3 years in 4th, 10 years in 5th, and one year as a virtual teacher. This is my second year in the Greenville County Virtual Program.

I received my Doctor of Education in Reading and Literacy in May of 2021. In 2005, I received my Master's Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Furman University. I feel this program has enabled me to more effectively teach all of my students, not only my English Language Learners. I have become more aware of individual needs of each student and modifications that may be needed. I received my National Board Teacher Certification as a Middle Age Generalist November 2008 and renewed this fall.

I have two children. Gina is a Nursing Supervisor in Columbia, SC, and Stephen is an account manager for a company in Florence, SC and working on his Master's in engineering. My husband, Brent, works as a technician for AFL. I also have a 2 handsome twin black cats; seriously, I can barely tell them apart. However, Felix is all about the love and Miles is all about the food. I rescued them March of 2020, so they have grown up with me as a virtual teacher and their spoilage shows it.
