Creative Writing  6

This course will begin with the six traits of writing as an introduction to t creative writing and publishing.  Class participants will write and revise in various genres, including journals, essays, short stories, letters, greeting cards, and poetry.  The central focus of the class is to write using multiple processes to show creativity, using mentor texts as inspiration and models, and learning from providing and listening to feedback.  From a few local authors,  the students will engage in a supportive, creative community that empowers individual curiosity and artistic risk-taking. Sixth graders will consistently work toward publishing a children's book.

Eighth graders will consistently work toward publishing a novelette that is sentimental in character.
