Meet Mrs. Weidman
Hello! My name is Kathy Weidman and I teach fifth grade at Buena Vista Elementary School in Greer, SC. I feel very fortunate to be teaching in such a stimulating and nurturing environment. I have 29 years of experience in grades two, three, and five. Prior to moving to Buena Vista, I taught grades three and five at Fort Mill Elementary School in Fort Mill, SC, and grades two, three, and five at Bethel Elementary School in Simpsonville, SC. Each grade offers its own unique opportunities for academic and social growth.
I am a graduate of Clemson University where I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. While teaching in Fort Mill, I also earned my Master's Degree in Reading Instruction from Winthrop University.
I believe that all children can learn and experience success if given opportunities to build on existing knowledge and academic strengths. On a daily basis, I strive to meet the needs of all of my students by utilizing a variety of teaching strategies into the curriculum. I incorporate problem solving and cooperative learning into lessons to help develop higher order thinking skills and cooperation among students. I set high expectations for all students to help motivate them to excel. My ultimate goal is to have students develop confidence and independence throughout the school year thus encouraging the desire for life long learning!
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband Jeff, our daughter Alana, and our son Gavin. I love to travel, play/watch sports, and go to the movies.
