About Me

Visiting Mt. Rainier in Washington last summer!

Hello! My name is Kara Tallman. This is my fourth year at Sterling and sixth year as an educator. I am thrilled to work at a school that goes above and beyond to meet the individual needs of students academic and social needs.

My Education:

For the majority of my upbringing I lived in Maryland and attended several schools in Montgomery County. My family relocated to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina when I was in high school. For college I moved across the state to attend Clemson University. I received my undergraduate degree in Special Education and Elementary Education. Go Tigers!

Interests:

I LOVE to travel to new places! Learning about other cultures has always been a passion of mine. This past summer I visited Kenya for the second time! I also enjoy exploring all that Greenville has to offer. From the mountains surrounding Greenville to the restaurants downtown you really can't go wrong.

Why I became a Teacher:

For as long as I can remember I knew I was going to become a teacher. I spent a majority of my childhood playing teacher with friends and us setting up our classrooms in the basement of our houses. When it came time to choose a major in college I did not second guess that I would major in Education. I am SO glad I chose to be a teacher. It has been far more rewarding than I could have ever imagined!
