All About Me

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! My name is Mrs. Mink, and I’m excited to be Bryson Elementary School's Literacy Specialist. I’m looking forward to a successful year full of learning and fun, and I know you are too!

This will be my second year at Bryson Elementary and I am so excited to be here. I have been teaching for eleven years. I taught kindergarten for seven years and first grade for four years. I’m originally from Southern California and received my bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Purdue University. I also have a master’s degree in literacy education from Queens University of Charlotte. I got married and moved to Greenville from Charlotte in June 2015. My husband and I don't have any kids yet, but we have two sweet cats, Bill and Bobo! We are also huge football fans! For fun, I love to run and be outside, read, shop, make lists, eat at lots of different/new restaurants, and travel around the South!

In my position as Literacy Specialist, I do many different things. A good part of my day is spent working with students in small groups to provide intensive reading support. We call this support RTI, or 'Response to Intervention'. Our groups spend time reading books, engaging in comprehension and fluency activities, writing about what we have read, and practicing how to spell words using different patterns. The other part of my day is spent in classrooms, providing support to teachers and students with reading and writing.
