All About Me

Welcome to my 2nd grade classroom!

My name is Kayla Payne and I am from Greenville, SC. I grew up in Easley, SC, where I attended West End Elementary and then was later home schooled. However, in December of 2013 I moved to Greenville, SC. In May of 2018 I graduated from Southern Wesleyan University (SWU) in Central, SC with a Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood Education and my Read to Succeed Endorsement.

After graduated from SWU, I was honored to join the 2nd grade team at Armstrong Elementary during the 2018-2019 school year! I truly love teaching and remember some of my fondest memory as a child were pretending to be a teacher after I had been in school all day and having my Nana act as my student. Teachers to me have the best job for they get to encourage students to see that they are "WONDERS," each academically gifted with different gifts, that learning happens in many different ways and even when one is having fun, to persevere and not give up with learning gets hard, to remember and be PROUD of their "lightbulb moments" and most of all teachers get to know their students relationally for a student to me is always more than a grade in my grade book or someone filling a seat in a desk in my classroom!!

My family consist of myself (30) and my roommate Martha Rampey who I have been with for the last 8 years, and our dog (chiweenie) named Grace. Some of my favorite things besides teaching, are dogs, especially dachshunds, finding waterfalls, watching movies, singing, reading,, Africa, doing motivational speeches, raising awareness about dwarfism, and choosing to find joy, laughter and something new to learn each day in life!!

Again, I am sooo excited for this new upcoming year with you all as we work together to empower the next generation of teachers, , lawyers, doctors, nurses, community workers, business men and women, and etc. If you ever need anything or have any question, please do not hesitate to contact me at klpayne@armstrong.k12.sc.us.

Sincerely,

Ms. Kayla Payne
