About Me

Hello, and welcome to my page!   I am a graduate of Lander University, far enough back that we were the Lander Senators when I graduated.  My background is in Law Enforcement and Forensics, so I hope to bring a lot of real world perspectives into my teaching, in hopes of making things more interesting and engaging for everyone involved.

While I have given instruction to others in a professional capacity over the last 20 years, this will be only my third year teaching in a traditional classroom setting.  I will be teaching 3 sections of CP Chemistry.  While not always possible, I will try to relate the things we are learning to real world examples, to help make class a little more relevant, and hopefully more fun.

In addition, I will be drawing on the last two years of teaching at Travelers Rest High School, and will often encourage students to reach out to other students who have taken my classes previously.  I cannot promise that it will all be fun and games, as it is school, and we do have things to learn, but I hope to be able to intersperse fun and interesting activities amongst the traditional class work.

I enjoy including presentations as part of my class.  There will be at least two 'group' projects/presentations where students will be divided up into random groups to work together, as well as one 'individual' project, where each student will research a topic, and present it as instruction to the class.

Communication with Parents

Parents are highly recommended to contact me if you are concerned about your student. Parents will be notified of any problems or concerns by e-mail, telephone, printed progress reports to be signed, or in person during the school year. Please feel free to call me at the school’s number (864) 355-0083 for any parent/teacher conferences. My e-mail address is kclarke@greenville.k12.sc.us    I am available for parent conferences upon request. I usually arrive at about 7:40 a.m. and I will generally stay after school until approximately 4:15 p.m.

I cannot stress how important and welcome your calls/emails are in regards to your student.  I will attempt to work with your student through whatever difficulties they might encounter during my class.  As long as they are putting forth effort, I will help them to achieve their goals in my class.  I have found that when parents get involved, it often encourages the child to try harder, and end up doing much better than they otherwise would have.  A Win/Win for everyone involved!
