me as a kid

When I was in 2nd grade, I loved to read! My favorite thing to play at recess was jumping rope. My teacher was Mrs. Hensley, and I was in 2nd grade during the 1990-91 school year! My favorite thing to do was play school. I guess that’s why I became a teacher! My stuffed animals and dolls were certainly smart!

why

Why I Became a Teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to make a positive difference in someone’s life. I remember some of my favorite teachers in elementary school. They were so confident, caring, and professional. They made me feel I could accomplish anything. I want to convey this feeling to the children I teach. I want to have the feeling that I have accomplished something.

I became a teacher because I like to give. I am a very giving person and an education is the best gift you can give someone, especially a child. It will make me feel very good to see a child I taught a few years later and think, "Hey, I taught them something!" Just thinking about that makes me very thrilled. I want to teach children, most of all, that it is okay to be different. Your appearance and monetary status do not matter. It’s your character that counts.
