Hi Jellies!!  My name is Katherine James and I'm excited to be your 2nd grade teacher! This year is going to be filled with many learning opportunities. I am overjoyed with enthusiasm, anticipation, and excitement, and I hope that I can pass this on to my students. Each and every child will be special to me and I will strive to guide, nurture, and prepare them for a love of learning

I graduated from Clemson University in 1997, GO TIGERS!, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. I taught third grade for nine years before taking thirteen years off to be a stay at home mom to my three children.  I am an original charter member of Bells Crossing when it first opened its doors in 2001.  During those years off from full-time teaching, I substitute taught for several years before finally realizing that teaching is my passion and I wanted a classroom of my own. This is my fifth year teaching second grade, but I've substituted two long-term positions in this grade level before becoming a full time teacher.

When I am not teaching, I spend a lot of time at the soccer fields, supporting and cheering on my children. If I do happen to get sometime to myself, I love to read! Historical fiction is my favorite genre with psychological thrillers and fictional novels coming in at a close second and third. Most of our weekends are usually filled with sporting events, but when they're not, I love to spend time with my family doing family fun activities.

I was born in New Jersey and moved to South Carolina when I attended Clemson. I never returned home after graduation. I knew that I wanted to make South Carolina my home. I meet my husband of twenty years when I was a retail manager of a very popular clothing store at the Haywood Mall. We live a very short distance from BCES in the Five Forks area with our three children (now 2, beacuse Hannah is attending her first year of college at SCAD), Hannah (18), Emma (17), and Matthew (15) along with our Frenchies, Louis and Poppi, and our pet bunny, Luna.

I am very grateful for the opportunity to teach your child and get to know you and your family better during this school year. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you maybe having. Communication is key!

Best Wishes for a Great Year,

Mrs. Katherine  James
