Welcome to our first grade class!

Education and Career:

My name is Jody Johnson, I graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Early Childhood Education from Lander University in 2012 and a Master's of Education in Primary Montessori in 2013. I began teaching in Laurens County Schools in 2012. In February 2017 I was fortunate enough to meet Armstrong staff and have enjoyed 3 great years before moving to the GCS Virtual Program for fall 2020. I am so grateful for this new chapter in teaching and cannot wait to get started! :)

Home Life:

A few things you may enjoy learning about me is my love of reading and traveling. I have been to all the states on the east coast, and many others in USA. I have been to Hawaii, Coasta Rica, China, France, Japan, Nicaragua, and most recently, whale watching in Maine. My best trip was in 2014 when I was able to go to China where my husband proposed on top of Yellow Mountain after a very long hike. It was a great day! Matt and I were married in October 2014.

In July of 2017, we moved with our two dogs, Lucy and Jimi, to Powdersville to begin my new career with Greenville County Schools. Matt is a civil engineer in Greenville. He loves working on projects, mountain biking, rock climbing and of course playing with our dogs. Lucy and Jimi are chihuahua-dachshunds, they were born in November of 2011. They are my pride and joy, fur-babies!

During the summer of 2018 I was able to spend the month of July in China teaching English to primary and middle/high school students. It was an experience I am so grateful for and will never forget!

In July of 2019, we welcomed our son Beau into this world! He is a spunky, people loving, cheerful little boy!

In July of 2020, I decided to make a small job change and moved to Greenville County School's Virtual Program, it was great but I am very excited to be back in the classroom in person!

In November 2021, I am expecting my second son to be born and will not be returning this school year! I will miss you all but am very excited to begin this new journey as a mother to two boys!
