About Me

I grew up in Piedmont, SC and graduated from Woodmont High School.   I attended Clemson University where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Mathematical Science. The year after graduating, I had the opportunity to return to Clemson for my teaching certification. I began teaching at Woodmont High School, my alma mater, in 1990. I taught at WHS for six years and I also taught part-time at Greenville Technical College during this time. After taking some time off for my family, I returned to teaching in 2002 and taught 8th grade math and Algebra I at Beck Academy. In 2004, I moved to Woodmont Middle School.  During my thirteen years at WMS, I taught many levels of math -  7th grade math, 8th grade math, Algebra I and Geometry.  While at Woodmont Middle, I also became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2009!  In 2017, I became part of the Northwood Middle family  and I have taught 6th, 7th and 8th grade math throughout the years.   This year, I am teaching Math Intervention and Skill Building and I am looking forward to helping students strengthen their math skills as well as assisting and supporting students in their regular math classroom work.

I have taught math for a total of twenty-seven years and I truly enjoy it. My hope is that my students will learn to appreciate math and see the importance of math in their lives.

I am married and I have two sons and one daughter.   When I'm not at school, one of my favorite things to do is hanging out with my four grandsons and four granddaughters.
