About Mrs. Carter

This is my 12th year at Beck Academy and my 22nd year teaching 6th grade. As a little girl, I used to play school with my sister. The sliding closet doors in my bedroom were our chalkboard, and I was ALWAYS the teacher. I guess that was the beginning of my career in education.

I have been living in Greenville since 1999. I have a daughter who is a junior at Wofford College and a son who is a sophomore at JL Mann. In my newfound free time now that I am not driving soccer carpool, I am looking forward to watching JL Mann soccer, going to the gym, and catching up on my reading . My favorite type of book is historical fictions.

After my son was born, I completed my Master's degree in technology and then took part in an extensive writing program called the Upstate Writing Project which I continue to work with. In January of 2010, I completed a second master's degree in Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction.

I love teaching sixth grade because it is a new adventure every day. The physical, emotional, and social changes that sixth graders go through are amazing but can be difficult for both the students and parents. I know as a team we can make this transition to middle school go smoothly and 6th grade will be the best year yet!!

Fun fact: I have a pet rabbit named Roger who has been with our family for 5 years now!
