ART 1: hs credit Art

Syllabus

The purpose of this course is to learn traditional and new media approaches to art-making. Students will learn about historic and contemporary artists, movements, styles, techniques, and statements. They will exercise choice-making based on personal interest and art-making opportunities.

We will extend our existing artistic horizons, learn new skills, apply new techniques, and incorporate inspiration from our world and historical artists and art movements. We will learn about some of those movements and associated artists to gain a better understanding of art history, styles, tools, and techniques, and what it means to be human.

Art 1 students can choose from one of the Special Ops team opportunities and will complete works of fine art in the areas of drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramic, print, and digital media. They will create artist's statements to express their artistic purpose and learn to exhibit their works physically and via a digital portfolio.
