All About Me

Welcome to Second Grade!!! My name is Elizabeth Slatten. This is my 18th year teaching at Crestview.  I taught first grade for 14 years and this is my fourth year teaching second grade! Boy, do I love second grade!! Crestview Elementary is a wonderful place to BEE and I know we will have a fantastic year together!

I grew up in Landrum, SC with my mom, dad, and my younger brother. I attended Skyland Elementary, Blue Ridge Middle, and Blue Ridge High.  In high school I played tennis and volleyball. I also sang in the Honors Choir and participated in the Teacher Cadet program. After graduating high school, I knew exactly where I wanted to go and what I wanted to major in. I attended North Greenville University where I majored in Early Childhood Education. I graduated in 2006 with my Bachelor's Degree.  I went back to school in 2008 and received my Master's Degree in Divergent Learning in 2009 from Columbia College. I love to learn new and exciting ways to teach every student in my class!

On March 31, 2007, I married my college sweetheart, Josh Slatten.  We live in Landrum, SC.  He is from Anderson, SC and graduated from North Greenville University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Studies. He is the pastor at Reedy River Baptist Church.   Josh and I have two awesome children, Jake and Allie. Jake is in 8th grade and loves basketball. Allie is in 5th grade and loves to play the piano.

In my classroom I provide a safe, loving, and nurturing environment. I work hard to build a sense of trust among my students and I always encourage them to do their absolute best in everything they do. I love music and incorporate it into our classroom activities. We sing silly songs to help us learn, and listen to soft, classical music while we work. I love teaching and watching each student grow throughout the year.
