What I teach.

This year I have the pleasure of teaching English III CP.  It is exciting, because we have fairly new textbooks and workbooks for this course that supplement the various novels we will read this year.  We will read The Crucible, Of Mice and Men, Raisin in the Sun, Anthem. I feel like we are going to have a great time with the material.  

The final course I am responsible for this year is Competitive Public Speaking.  The class teaches speech and debate skills that hopefully students will transfer over to our competitive speech and debate team. We have only had the club back up and running for about 2 years, but have started to have a lot of success at the district and state level.  In fact, last year we sent a student to the National Competition. While participation on the team and club are not mandatory for the class, it is a great way to get involved in an extracurricular activity at school that is truly valued by college admissions.

Grading Scale

Grades will be weighted as follows:

60% Major Assessments (Writing Assignments, Tests and Projects)

40% Minor Assessments (Brief Writing Assignments, Quizzes)

Late Work Policy

10 points off per day, max of 60 if turned in by end of unit, max of 50 if turned in after the unit
