About Me

Hi everyone!

My name is Erin Landry and I grew up in Rochester, NY, which is closer to Canada than NYC, just in case you were wondering. I love football, and I will always be a diehard Buffalo Bills fan (plus my father would likely disown me if I supported any other NFL team). GO BILLS! In addition to football, I love animals, traveling, hiking, rock climbing, reading, making art, and going to concerts. I am also a complete history nerd, which I believe is a good trait to have when teaching social studies.

As for my educational and teaching background, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in History Secondary Education 7-12 from SUNY Geneseo, then earned a Master’s degree in Literacy Education birth-12 from the same university two years later.  I started my teaching career in Ghana, West Africa living and working at an orphanage while simultaneously pursuing my degrees. I then worked as a special education paraeducator, a pre-K teacher, and a substitute teacher before finding a full-time job in Rochester, NY.

Before moving to South Carolina in January 2019, I taught 5th and 6th grade English, then 8th grade Social Studies for five years at an urban charter school. When the opportunity arose, I happily packed up our family and moved to Greenville. I have two girls and three rescued animals, and we all enjoy the SC heat much more than the freezing cold NY winters.

The 2023-2024 school year will be my fifth year teaching 8th grade social studies at Riverside Middle, and I am incredibly lucky to be part of such a fantastic school community. I’m looking forward to working with all of you!
