Reading Classes

System 44

Read 180

Students need headphones with a built-in microphone for this class. I provide these in the beginning, but most students seem to prefer their own set. The classroom set doesn't make it to the end of the year from heavy wear & tear, so it's HIGHLY recommended you provide this for your student if you are able.

System 44 is a multimedia, research-based program that is designed to help students master key foundational reading skills. When students learn to easily decode letters and sounds, they can concentrate on the meaning of words and texts. And when students comprehend more, they learn more. They will work on the System 44 software, or Student Application.

In the READ 180 classroom, students participate in whole class to sit together, or in a small group for instruction with their teacher. There is a section with technology devices, where students will work on the READ 180 software, or Student Application.

Independent Reading & Reading Inventory

Students will read books independently, and take reading quizzes regularly throughout each quarter of this class.

Students will take 3 Reading Inventories this school year to determine their updated reading level (Lexile). It is important that students do their best on this, so we will practice vocabulary throughout the year to increase their knowledge.
