About Me


My name is Eric Wells. I am a native of Charlotte, North Carolina and graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am starting my 27th year of teaching and my second year at Greenville High Academy as Director of Bands. After earning my Master’s degree from Winthrop University, I taught at Seneca High School, then Easley High School and Clover High School. In 2011, I earned a second Master’s degree through the American Band College at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. 

Bands under my leadership have earned numerous state and regional awards at concert and marching events. I have also been awarded the Citation of Excellence by the National Band Association on two occasions. My professional affiliations include the South Carolina Band Director’s Association, National Association for Music Education, Phi Beta Mu, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.

I have been married for 12 years to my beautiful wife, Melanie. We are the proud parents of two daughters. Reece is eight and Mary-Brooke is six.
