A Little About Me

Hi! I am Dr. Lindi Metcalf, and I am so excited to join Bell's Crossing Elementary School this year. I absolutely love what I do and will work hard to ensure the best education for your child! A little bit about me....

I grew up in Spartanburg. Both of my parents were educators, so I grew up in a family that valued education and was passionate about helping children and families achieve their goals. I graduated from Furman University with a BA in Elementary Education. I continued on to receive a Masters M.Ed. in Education Administration from the University of South Carolina and an Ed.D. in Education Leadership from South Carolina State University! This is my 26th year in education; I am fortunate to have been an elementary and middle school teacher, assistant principal, principal, and am certified to teach preschool special education and gifted and talented. All of these experiences shape my beliefs about children and the amazing things they can accomplish with the support of dedicated teachers, principals, parents, and school staff. We are a team!

My favorite part about my job as an elementary educator is watching students learn about themselves, others, and the world around them. As an assistant principal, it is important to me to make meaningful connections with students, collaborating with the entire team to help each child achieve his/her academic goals. I want to hear about students' favorite books, what they want to be when they grow up, and what they like to do outside of school.

My husband and I have been married for 20 years and have 3 children--an 11th grader and twin 7th graders! All three children play golf, and the twins are active in soccer. Just like many you, we are reading, doing homework, and often eating in the car, shuttling from activity to activity after school. Friday nights are for tacos, movies, and spending time together relaxing after a busy week.

My favorite hobbies are reading, painting, and anything outdoors. In my free time, I enjoy cooking. I am not a great chef, but I find it fun and relaxing. I will probably ask for your favorite recipe. I love walking, kayaking, and just being outside. I enjoy painting, but so do my children, and lately, they’ve taken over the paints and brushes. We are always with family, and if we have a moment to relax, we are probably roasting hot dogs and making S’mores by a fire somewhere!

I look forward to getting to know you and your families this year, growing as a part of the Bell's Crossing family!
