Student Expectations

First year students will learn about the fundamentals of Diesel Technology and complete a Engine tear down and rebuild. All internal parts will be measured and inspected for reuse before the engine is reassembled. Students will also lean about fuel systems and basic engine troubleshooting.

Second year students will learn about troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of Medium/ Heavy Duty Truck systems and components such as: Air brakes, steering, suspension, transmissions, axles, electrical, and Cab climate control.

Students will also have Co-Op Opportunities and Internships available based on their class room and shop performance.


Classroom:

1. Safety P.P.E. will be worn when working in lab or using tools.

2. All tools will be cleaned and returned to the tool box at the end of the class.

3. Students are to respect other classmates.

4. No horse play in the shop.

5. Students need to ask permission be for removing parts or using tools.

6. No electronic devices i.e. “cell phones” will be allowed in class/shop. This includes headphones.

7. Work areas need to be cleaned up at the end of the class.

8. Students will provide their own safety glasses and steel toed shoes for the class.

9. Unprepared students will receive a 0 for daily participation grade.
