The mission of the Bethel Elementary School counseling program is to collaborate with school and community to promote a nurturing learning environment for all students so that they develop academic, career, and social emotional skills in order to become productive leaders.
Some school counseling services include:
1. Classroom lessons for ALL classes that teach children social/emotional, academic, and career skills
2. Individual sessions to help students deal with issues of conflict or challenges at school that impact their learning
3. Small groups for students facing difficult situations that impact school success
4. Parent workshops that provide information on a variety of topics
5. Consultations for parents to learn about assistance and community resources
Limits of Confidentiality:
Confidentiality is carefully respected and maintained. The school counselor explains to children that there are certain times when confidentiality must be breached:
Someone is hurting you
You want to hurt someone else
You want to hurt yourself
You give us permission to share information with someone else
