About Me

Hello and welcome to my site. This will be my 19th year teaching at EHS as well as my 19th year as a teacher. I completed my student teaching at EHS under the supervision of Mr. Brad Kluttz who was a social studies teacher at the time. I went back to school late in life...found that I really enjoyed school and kept going until I received a Masters Degree in Teaching Secondary Social Studies from Converse College. I received my undergraduate degree from The University of South Carolina Upstate where I  majored in government and business. I also have an Associates Degree from Greenville Tech in Paralegal Studies. I am a certified AP US Government and Psychology teacher, a South Carolina Teacher Mentor, and have a Gifted and Talented endorsement.

The picture above is or was Central High School in Columbus, Ohio...it is now COSI the Center of Science and Industry. I am from Columbus and graduated from Central...go Pirates!

I love to travel and visit historic cities and towns...the architecture is amazing. My dream is to one day live in a small historic town overlooking the ocean. I have been leaning to knit because my youngest son would like me to knit him a sweater (keepsake I guess). I am not sure how long this will take as I started knitting a scarf three years ago and am about 1/8 of the way finished. I continue to try and know that eventually the scarf will be finished and the sweater will be complete. Keep your fingers crossed.

I am not the sort of teacher that likes to stand in front of the class and lecture the entire class period...though sometimes a good lecture is necessary and I can go on and on if the subject is interesting. I prefer to listen to the students talk and watch them create mind maps, graphic organizers, arguments for debate...etc.

Thank you for taking the time to read a little about me. I would love to get to know you, please feel free to call or email me anytime. Here is to a wonderful year of learning.
