About Me

WOW!! I can't believe it is time for another year.  I am excited to say that I am starting my first year as a kindergarten teacher. It is my 22th year of teaching at Lake Forest Elementary, but 24nd  year of teaching. I am so excited to begin my second year as a kindergarten teacher at this wonderful school.  I taught in the STEAM lab for four years and in first grade for 10 years.  I taught 3rd grade for six years, and finally; 4th grade and 2nd grade for a year.  I  received my Master's Degree from Southern Wesleyan University.  I graduated from Clemson University in December of 1999 and acquired a TESOL certification from Furman University in 2004.  I enjoy teaching very much- to me it's not a job, but a chance to get to know the future. Our children are our future and it makes me feel a little better to know that I am in the rush of life trying to make a difference. I love helping children and look forward to working with all of my students!

I have been married for 19 years now.  I have three children.  I have a 26year old step daughter who lives in Charleston,  an 19 year old son who graduated from Eastside Hight 2 years ago and is in the Navy Reserves.  I have a 16 year old daughter who is a junior at Eastside.  I love spending time with my family when I am not at work. I love going to the beach in the summer! It's my happy place!

Simply put my mission is that I strongly believe that all children have the ability to achieve a high level success through the high expectations that I as a teacher am required to provide. I want each of my students to succeed further than they would have ever imagined possible. I want them to look forward to school and learning. I want them to want to say I wonder what we are going to do today in Mrs. Respass's class?

It is very important for me to know that my children feel safe inside my doors. I want them to not only look to me as a teacher and mentor, but a trusting, caring, friendly adult whom they can tell anything. I want them to know that are loved and they matter! I look forward to a wonderful year!
