What is RTI?

RTI stands for "Response to Intervention." RTI is a reading program that helps students learn phonetic skills and build reading fluency.

Kindergarten and First Grade

Students in kindergarten and first grade are given benchmark assessments three times a year, fall, winter and spring. These benchmarks can qualify students for extra reading instruction. Students will work in small groups to learn phonics and reading strategies.

Second Grade

This year, benchmarks will be given to second grade students who were in RTI in first grade or are recommended by their teacher. Students who did virtual learning in first grade will be assessed in 2nd grade during the fall. As well, students new to our school or district will be benchmarked. Students who qualify will work in small groups to learn phonics and reading strategies.
