Student Expectations

Due to the Corona Virus, Physical Education class will be very different than it has in the past, and policies/procedures are subject to change as we move through the year. Some changes to expect that can be planned for immediately:

  • We will be outside most of the time. Plan on being outside. Expect to be outside. If it is not raining, we will be outside.

      • Not "It looks like it might rain so we should stay inside," but "It is currently raining so we will stay inside for now"

  • Dressing out needs to occur as quickly as possible, ideally with the class entering the locker room and leaving within 5 minutes.

  • You can expect a large focus on physical fitness during your time in PE for the foreseeable future. Things you can expect to do in PE while at school:

                  • Walking/jogging/running the track, PACER test

                  • Body weight exercises (push-ups, curl-ups, squats, etc)

                  • Stretching

  • Class sizes will be very small. Even if we could use the equipment that we have, it would be very difficult to get a "regular" game going because of social distancing requirements.

  • Be flexible and adapt to any changes that may come up. Trust that we, the teachers, want you to be able to play basketball, football, tennis, badminton, dodgeball, etc. We want to play as well. Right now we do not know when that will happen. Begging or complaining will not change that.

  • No electronic devices are should be used without permission during class.

  • Do not leave the area your teacher has your class in without permission. (Outside or inside)

  • Respect school property. Keep all equipment, bleachers, gym and locker rooms in good

condition.

  • Be prepared for assignments in Google Classroom on the days you are not in physical attendance at GHS. Assignments will include, but not be limited to:

                • Fitness logs/videos

                • Health curriculum

                • Quizzes/Exams

Discipline Policy:

Physical Education classes will follow the Greenville High School Handbook
