About Me

This is my fourth year at Riverside Middle School. I was born and raised in Grand Ledge, MI, which is a small town just west of Lansing. I graduated from Central Michigan University with a B.S. in Secondary Education and a focus in English, History, and Middle Level Education; however, I have always been and will always be a Michigan State Spartans fan. I moved down to Greenville in August of 2013, and I have loved getting to know the area and meeting new people. I am currently finishing up my Masters in Teaching and Learning at Clemson University.

I love to travel, and it is on my bucket list to travel to all 50 states and all 7 continents. I have been to 15 states so far, as well as Canada, Mexico, Ireland, Italy, and France. When I am not teaching, I enjoy outdoor activities, such as running, hiking, biking, kayaking, and camping. I also enjoy reading, spending time with friends and family, and trying new projects from Pinterest. I have 2 older brothers and a large extended family, so I like to travel back to Michigan as much as I can to spend time with them.

I have a passion for Language Arts, and I hope to pass that passion on to my students. I believe my classroom is a learning community where not only do the students learn from the teacher, but also the teacher learns from the students and the students learn from each other. I look forward to getting to know each of you and growing and learning together this year.
