My Name is Ms. Kronyak. I have been part of the Fine Arts team, since 2013.  I have been a practicing artist since the early 80’s, so art is my life.   I received my BFA, from Montclair State University, N.J. and MFA from SUNY New Paltz, N.Y.  My teaching career began in the mid 90’s as an adjunct professor at SUNY New Paltz, New York and Montclair University, NJ.  After receiving my NYS teaching certification in 2000, I entered the public education system where I taught High School and K-12 art over a nineteen year span.  I have been involved in after school and summer art programs, private lessons and programs that have helped children cope with chronic illnesses by letting them speak through art, just to name a few.  I am the National Art Honor Society Advisor and had been co-advisor for a ski/snowboard club for several years.   So as you see, art is my passion.  An educator needs to be passionate about what they are teaching to truly express the importance of their subject matter.  This is a brief synopsis of my qualifications since they have been developing over a 30 year span.   As a transplant from New York I do bring my northern flair to Woodmont High School.  I am looking forward to sharing what I have learned over a life time, with my new students.  Art is not just a pretty picture it is a form of communication.  My goal is to educate the students on the importance of art in our world as a form of communication and how it fits in the development of man/woman through history.

The elements of art and the Principles of design will be integral tools in each lesson.  They are the words of art. Material and techniques will vary with each lesson.  Reading and writing about art will be integrated into each lesson.  Oral or written critiques will be common place at the end of each project.  This allows each student to apply verbally what they learned from the unit they just completed. It also allows the students to see what their peers did to resolve the problems they were responsible to complete.  It also allows the students to see the diversity and extremes of abilities of each success.  A student does not have to draw exceptionally to succeed in my class.  They need to try their best and complete each problem in a timely fashion.  That is success in my class.

My expectations of each student are plain and simple.  Be on time, work to the best of your ability and respect yourself and all that is around you.  Each student is expected to make wise decisions.  With this being said, my class is a safe and nurturing place.  I look forward to an exciting year, as I learn from the students, just as they learn from me.

Each student be required to get the following materials:  Due to the pandemic each student will have their own supplies.  They must be brought to class everyday.  I will not be able to supply daily materials, since everything touched must be sanitized after use.

1.       A sketchbook…9 x 12 spiral bound.  Binders will be available for those who do not have the resources to

           acquire their own.

2.       Pencils…(Ticonderoga are the best, but a bit more expensive)

3.  Colored pencils; crayola 12 pack which cost approx.  $ 0 .97

Prisma colored pencils are ideal, but a bit more expensive.  Choose what ever fits your needs.

4. Pencil sharpener

5.       Eraser
