The best way to learn how to read is to practice!


There are many parts of a book. Look to the right to see what they are called.

Fluency is the accuracy and speed that you can read at

Comprehension is what you understand from what you read

We are going to be working on both the comprehension and the fluency of reading

We are also going to be leaning how to take out text evidence from what we are reading to write stories of our own based on that book or story. In order to do this, we must be able to read fluently and comprehend what we are reading.

Read a story with your child each night, during your reading, ask them questions based on what is going on in the story. This will help them when they read a story independently, they can start to think of questions themselves while reading.
