Course Description

Chemistry 1 is a first year chemistry course for students who want to go to college or pursue a technical career that requires a working knowledge of chemistry. The course is designed to offer many hands-on activities to enrich the students’ understanding of the fundamental chemical concepts. 

Course Goals and Outcomes

1. Develop the skills needed to do scientific inquiry.

2. Develop an understanding of the organization of matter.

3. Develop an understanding of atomic structure and how it relates to chemical bonding.

4. Develop an understanding of chemical quantities, stoichiometry.

5. Develop an understanding of common laboratory techniques .
