All About Mrs. Shuler

My name is Betsy Shuler, and I am excited to join Oakview's reading intervention team! I have taught in Greenville County and at Oakview Elementary for 26 years. I was a resource teacher for 4 years and taught 5th grade for 22 years.

I was born and raised in Connecticut, and my parents still reside there. I have three brothers, one older and two younger. I have lived in Greenville for 30 years. I came here to attend Furman University as an undergraduate. I graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts (major: elementary education). I returned to Furman in 1997 to begin work on my masters. I received my Master of Arts (concentration: learning disabilities) in 2000.  I renewed my National Board Certification 8 years ago. I finished my second Master of Arts (concentration: literacy coaching) in May.

My husband, Mike, is a local restaurateur. We own Smoke on the Water in downtown Greenville. We have two beautiful children, Blakely (13) and Logan (11).   Blakely is in 8th grade and Logan is a 6th grader at Riverside Middle.

I am looking forward to a great year!
