WHAT IS RTI?

The Brushy Creek Elementary School Response to Intervention (RTI) Program is designed to identify and to serve students who may benefit from additional small group reading instruction. The students are evaluated using a universal screening tool along with ongoing data collection and observation. The Brushy Creek Literacy Team reviews the data to make recommendations, regarding additional support. Students selected, typically, meet for small group reading instruction four times per week, for several weeks.  The instructional programs used are Reading Horizons and Fountas and Pinnell's Leveled Literacy Intervention. While enrolled in RTI , the students' progress is closely monitored and instruction is continually adjusted. Students may move into, or out of, the program during the school year based on needs or gains.
