Mr. Harris (Born in Union, SC in April 1971) came to Hughes Academy in 2022 after teaching 29 years of middle school math in Greenville and Spartanburg counties. He has also worked as an academic specialist for the University of South Carolina (Union Campus). This is his 30th year of teaching! Mr. Harris is proud to be a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) in Early Adolescence/Mathematics.

I went to school myself in Union County many many years ago - graduating as class valedictorian in 1989. I love school! Mr. Harris also serves on many PAS-T/ADEPT evaluation panels as needed by the School District of Greenville County and often works as a cooperating teacher to help train student teachers from local colleges and universities as they shape the future of middle school math.

Mr. Harris was honored to be elected Mauldin Middle's TEACHER OF THE YEAR for the 2014-2015 school year.

Mr. Harris is a 1993 graduate from USC-Upstate with a degree in Secondary Mathematics Education (and he is currently certified to teach 6th through 12th grade). In 1997, Mr. Harris received his Masters Degree from Converse College in Gifted and Talented Education with a mathematics emphasis. He also obtained an Ed.S. Degree (Education Specialist Degree or a second Masters program) for Elementary/Middle School Administration at Converse College in Spartanburg, SC.

Mr. Harris loves music! He is always adding to his vinyl LP collection (and 45s) of all popular music genres. Music is the medication we all need to travel through the adventures of life!
