About Me

My name is Brian Maddux, and I graduated from Rushford-Peterson High School in 1992. Shortly after graduating from High School I started to work for Greenville County Disabilities and Special Needs Board (GCDSNB) in a group home for men who had Intellectual disabilities. I worked for GCDSNB for seven years in different positions. In January of 2001 I was hired at Greenville Sr. High Academy of Academic Excellence. I worked as a one-on-one assistant there in a TMD class. The week after I procured the job at Greenville High I enrolled in the adult education program at Southern Wesleyan University, where I received my degree in Special Education on December 10, 2005. I was hired at Woodmont High, January 1, 2006. I was Woodmont High's teacher of the year for the 2008-2009 school year.

I enjoy sports and am very active in the Special Olympics on both the state and local levels. I have been a Special Olympics coach since the spring of 1996. I am currently certified in the following Special Olympic sports; basketball, golf, weightlifting, bowling and roller-skating. In the summer of 2010, I had the privalige to coach Woodmont High's Special Olympic Volleyball team at the National level as team South Carolina.

I enjoy both teaching and learning from children with mental disabilities. My hope is to make an impact on the students that I teach, because I know that they have had an impact on me.
