About Me
ABOUT ME
This school year begins my forty-sixth year of teaching and my ninth at Monarch. After teaching four years in Indiana, I moved to Simpsonville and taught twenty-three years at Bryson Elementary and then ten years at Bell's Crossing. During those years I taught special education, third, second, and fifth grades. I taught fifth grade for the past 17 years. I was the intermediate literacy mentor for two years at Monarch.
I am ADEPT, PAS-T, and state mentor trained to evaluate and work with new teachers. I enjoy helping new teachers and find this very rewarding.I also am a teacher consultant for the Upstate Writing Project. In November, 2005, I received my National Board Certification.
My oldest daughter is a registered nurse at GHS. My other daughter is a mother to my eight- year-old grandson. Three rescue dogs, one Alaskan Husky- mix, and two Jack Russell/terrier mixes are also part of my family.
In my free time I like to read, volunteer, exercise, and travel.
