Dear Parent / Guardian

I am looking forward to working with your student this year at Mann!

I am a true believer in open communication. If you have any questions or issues that you would like to discuss, please call me at my desk at 864-355-4989 or by e-mail at rgrim@greenville.k12.sc.us or rgrim@greenvilleschools.us . I check messages as often as I am able, and am often available during my planning period, which is 1st period all year. I also keep copies of my course syllabi, and other important information for each class on my school website: https://sites.google.com/greenvilleschools.us/art910 .

I am available for extra help each Tuesday and Thursday mornings, from 8:00--8:30. I am available other times by appointment. Students may not work in my room during my planning periods due to art room configurations and other teachers' schedules.

Your student will soon bring home an Art Supplies Sheet that will explain the materials and costs related to the class he or she is taking. Please pay your child’s art class fee as soon as possible online via our school’s website--go to My SchoolBucks and follow the prompts to find your child’s classes and associated fees. I appreciate your cooperation in this. If you have any supplies you would like to donate, I’ve included a list of things we need in our department. In addition, your child should be prepared with a pencil and sketchbook for drawing and note taking every day.

Your student will also be showing you a copy of our classroom rules, procedures, and policies. Please read this with your student and be sure you are both familiar with everything listed there. You, your student, and I will be working together to keep the classroom orderly and running smoothly.

I am happy to excuse your student from class when you pre-arrange his or her absence with the school office. Please understand that your student must make up any class work that he or she misses. If special arrangements will be needed due to long-term illness or other extraordinary circumstances, please contact me. I would encourage all students to turn in any work before their planned absence.

This will be an exciting year at Mann! Thank you for the privilege of working with your student.

Sincerely,

Rebecca Grim
