for all Theatre Classes

Respectful behavior is expected of all students at all times.

Materials for THEATRE 1: Writing utensils and notebook with POCKETS for notes/hand-outs/scripts.

Materials for TECH THEATRE: CLOSED TOE SHOES- a must to work in the Scene Shop!! Work clothes for woodworking and painting! Writing utensils and notebook with POCKETS for notes/hand-outs/scripts.

RESPECT TIME:

1. Students are expected to be IN the classroom when the tardy bell rings. School Tardy Policy will be followed.

2. Students are expected to have appropriate materials for each class session. Failure to bring materials to class could result in a lower Weekly Participation Grade.

3. The student has one week from the date of a test or performance to make up the missed assignment. It is the student’s responsibility to see the teacher and set a time and date. All performances will be done during class, any tests will be done after class. If one week has passed and the student has failed to make up the work, the student will receive a ZERO on the test or performance.

4. If a student has been attending classes and refuses to perform on the pre-set date, performances will be accepted only ONE DAY LATE with a 25% reduction in points.

Skills stressed in Theatre: PERSEVERANCE and MEETING DEADLINES.

RESPECT THE SPACE:

1. ABSOLUTELY NO ONE SHOULD BE IN THE AUDITORIUM– unless directed by the teacher.

NO ONE SHOULD BE ON STAGE or different areas of the stage (including Dressing Rooms, the Wings, or Scene Shop) unless directed by the teacher.

2. Absolutely NO FOOD, NO DRINKS, NO GUM in the auditorium, on the stage, or in the scene shop.

Students may have water in the classroom, but no food or open containers at any time.

Skills stressed in Theatre: SELF-DISCIPLINE and SELF-CONTROL.

RESPECT YOURSELF and EACH OTHER:

1. Due to the nature of the performance class, a major portion of learning will involve classroom exercises, movement and vocal activities, and performances. With the technical class, a major portion of learning will involve classroom activites with the use of power tools or cutting instruments, as well as paint and other applications. It is not with the intent of embarrassing the student, but the student in any theatre class must be willing to attempt the activities and/or exercises. Failure to attempt the assignment will adversely affect the student’s grade. Students must respect each other’s attempt at the exercises as well.

2. All rules set forth in the Student Handbook will be followed.

3. The teacher reserves the right to add to the rules as necessary to achieve an appropriate learning environment.

Skills stressed in Theatre: COLLABORATION and INTER-DEPENDENCE.
