About Me

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, but ventured to Atlanta, Georgia as a graduate from Morehouse College with a concentration in business management from 2001 to 2005. After graduating in 2005, I joined Teach For America (TFA) in Metro Atlanta. Following TFA in 2008, I spent the following two years serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer (Lecturer at Cyril Potter College of Education) in Guyana, South America. This Peace Corps Volunteer experience was life-changing because I went on this journey with my amazing wife, Shaniece. After returning to the United States in 2010, I obtained a master's degree in Elementary Education from Boston College. In Boston, I was a founding teacher at Roger Clap Innovation School, a Boston Public School. During the evenings in Boston, I was a resident tutor at Harvard College (Lowell House).

In July 2016, my family migrated from Boston, Massachusetts, and arrived in Greenville, South Carolina. I was humbled in the selection by my A. J. Whittenberg colleagues as the Teacher of the Year for the 2020 – 2021 academic year. I completed an Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree program at Furman University in May 2021.

I am an instructional and reflective leader ready for the next step in my career. At the micro-level, I spent the last seventeen years shaping the children's minds within the four walls of my classroom. I am expanding at the macro level by taking what I applied within the "four walls" into an entire school. I am eager to motivate children to thrive, demonstrate a continual record of successful accomplishments, and engage in collaborative efforts with all stakeholders. I will continue to have a growth mindset by serving and reflecting on my practice as a program director at A.J. Whittenberg because our children and our community deserve "whatever it takes."

After teaching fourth grade at A. J. for six years, I am honored to continue to fulfill the mission at A. J. Whittenberg School of Engineering in my second year as the Program Director for the 2023 – 2024 school year.
