Preparing Children for Kindergarten

Children who attend a high quality program in the years before kindergarten are better prepared for school academically, socially, and emotionally. GISD Head Start programs utilize a research-based curriculum in a supportive learning environment to support families with having their children ready for school. Families must meet requirements for this FREE program. Grand Blanc's Perry Center is a location for Great Start Readiness. Spots fill up fast and are not guaranteed at our location. You can select it as one of your choices in the GISD's interest form at this link.

Grand Blanc Early College

Eligible sophomores with a 3.0 GPA or higher receive a letter about application for Grand Blanc Early College in late fall for the following year. Grand Blanc High School, in partnership with the University of Michigan-Flint, opened the Grand Blanc Early College (GBEC) during the 2015-2016 school year. Students who choose to participate in this unique opportunity will commit to a five year high school and college experience.

Junior and Senior students will take their high school and college classes (taught by college professors) on the campus of Grand Blanc High School. Students will transition to the college campus during their 13th year.

College courses during the 11th and 12th grade will focus on general education courses required for a four year/bachelor degree. Students may select courses geared toward a specific degree during their 13th year of the GB Early College program. Upon completion, students will be 1/3 of the way toward a bachelor degree.

The Center for Student Success (CSS) is a credit recovery program for Grand Blanc High School students that are at least 1.5 credits behind in their academic career. The program is limited to 120 applicants at this time. Students are given class periods to do "catch-up" work in online courses, in addition to spending the remainder of their day in traditional classes. Additional support is provided from teachers and counselors.

"The mission of CSS is to provide a unique alternative learning environment in which students will have a quality educational experience. They will succeed by taking responsibility for their own academic learning, while developing appropriate social and life skills which lead to healthy personal development."
