About the Teacher & Contact Info

Mrs. Shannon Schmelzer

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my website! I am so excited for another year at Blacklick and to be working with some amazing 2nd grade students and families! This will be my ninth year of teaching, and seventh year in 2nd grade. I taught special education for two years before I came to Blacklick and worked exclusively with 5th graders. I graduated from Wittenberg University in 2011 with a double major in Early Childhood and Special Education. Currently, I am working on my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Educational Technology. I am newly married to my amazing husband and we have 2 dogs, Lucy and Max and one cat, Rilo. My favorite thing about working at Blacklick is the amazing students and families I get to interact with every day!

I am confident that we are going to have a great year learning and growing in 2nd grade! I am passionate about creating life-long learners. I believe learning should be fun and that engaging and building relationships with students is crucial to assure all of my students are safe and comfortable to learn and grow. I love working and partnering with families and I am always more than happy to answer any questions that you may have. I believe in working as a team to assure that each child gets the most out of their education and their time in my classroom!

Check out my site regularly to see the happenings in room 22, get updated on upcoming events at Blacklick and in the district, and to browse some new websites we've been using in the classroom.

It's going to be a great year!
