Blacklick Elementary Counseling Support

Learning is hard work and in order to meet this challenge students must be physically and mentally healthy. In addition to the school counselor, Blacklick Elementary has a team of student support personnel to meet students mental health needs.

Dawn Jenkins, School Counselor

Nick Rediger, Mental Health Specialist

Autumn Hadley, School Psychologist

Brittany Morgan, Concord Prevention Specialist

Each student at Blacklick Elementary has access to guidance lessons in their classroom as well as individual and group counseling as needed. Students can use the school wide self referral system to speak to a school counselor for issues such as problem solving, friendship issues, or help getting through a bad day. In addition, teachers, parents, or students may request counseling to address issues such as anxiety, depression, grief, school refusal, attention issues, home based concerns, or other mental health needs. If a student or teacher requests ongoing support a parent will be contacted for permission.

Group Support occurs throughout the school year. Possible group counseling topics include:

  • Friendship Group (play based)
  • Social Skills Group (instruction based)
  • Mindfulness/ Yoga
  • Executive Functioning Skills (organization, time management, planning, attention)
  • Emotional Management (anger, disappointment, frustration, anxiety, sadness)

If your student needs guidance or mental health support please call me and I will help to connect you to the person who can help to meet their needs.
