October is upon us and in our world, that means look ahead to the October meets. Excel will officially be swimming in two different meets this month and look ahead to literally thousands of Excel races. While October meets are normally the first early season meets where we begin to see new levels of cuts, this year is unique in that so many of our Brentwood swimmers were denied full training right up until Fall Fest. Our expectation is that we will see a substantial jump in performance this month. Our first chance to show off will be next weekend at the Jack Thompson Memorial Invite in Louisville. The host team Lakeside Aquatics, is one of the premier teams in the country and we look forward to swimming with them. Two weeks later, we will be back at home in the Pumpkin Spice Meet and look out for big jumps in our qualifiers for all levels. 
On the dry side of our operation, October brings us both our traditional Millers Thrillers trip and Fall Break for our local schools. For the last couple of years, we've had a lot of fun braving the haunted woods in Spring Hill. Please don't miss out on this fun!
For those of you who are traveling for Fall Break, it's important to find a team to train with. Usually, an email to the local Head Coach is all that you need but if you're struggling to find a team, our coaching staff would help you set it up.

Pumpkin Spice Splash

Our second home meet of the year is our Pumpkin Spice Invite on October 21st and 22nd.  This is open to all our swimmers and is of course a great opportunity to earn volunteer hours as well. The registration deadline is October 6th so don't miss out!

Millers Thrillers

Heat Winner: Place in the top three swimmers in your age group for number of races won throughout the year. This award to favor  those athletes that are attending meets, swimming  lots of events, racing hard but most importantly, improving throughout the year.  Winners will receive a "Heat Winner" bag tag.
IM Tough: 8 & Younger Swimmers- Swim a legal 50 Fly, 50 Back, 50 Breast, 200 Free & 200 IM during the season
9 & 10 Swimmers- Swim a legal 100 Fly, 100 Back, 100 Breast, 200 IM and 500 Free during the season
IM Hall of Fame Level 1- Attain a Southeastern Championship Qualifying time standard in every event available for your age group.
IM Hall of Fame Level 2- Attain an Age Group Sectionals Championship Qualifying time standard in every event available for your age group.
IM Hall of Fame Level 3- Attain an NCSA Junior National Championship Qualifying time standard in every event available for your age group.  

Our Weekly Update for 9-29-23 has been released so check it out! You may have noticed that we are receiving intros from a wide variety of sources. Olympians, SEC Champions, officials, swim moms and vendors are just some of the folks who have made an appearance.
