Now that our holidays are in the books, we look back on the last two weeks of training with lots excitement for the championship season. We had a couple of key indicators of good things to come that I want to share with you all.
First, Williamson County Parks & Rec have been incredibly supportive of our program for a long time. Specifically, the aquatics team at the Brentwood ISC allowed us to hold additional practices, even when the facility was closed and that greatly increased what we were able to accomplish this break.
Second, our attendance was way up over last year. Not only did we see much larger numbers than normal, we also saw an influx of returning college visiting swimmers. In fact, our attendance was so good, we had just about 50 swimmers who hit perfect attendance for the last two weeks and earned their special green Holiday Training cap.
So now we turn our attention to the Championship Season. In the last two short course seasons, Excel has won the team title at the 8 & Under Championships, the Region 1 Championships and finally the Southeastern Winter Championships earning us the coveted Triple Crown. While winning even one of those meets is a huge task, we are aiming at sweeping all three for a third time in a row.
If the last two weeks are any indicator of the rest of the season, we are ready to go!

All of our parent volunteers play a vital role in hosting meets. We simply could not host meets in your absence. While most jobs take little training or experience, meet officials go through an educational and training process that enables them to help officiate at all meets. In fact, our own Excel officials have outnumbered the host team officials in both our first two meets. We are very grateful to our officiating crew but are always looking for new members.
