MTHSSA Regionals & Middle School Regionals

This weekend saw Excel hosting the MTHSSA High School Regional meet as well as the Middle School Regional meet, both held in Nashville at the Centennial Sportsplex. While neither of these were Excel Aquatics meets, we had the more swimmers representing their schools than any other club. In fact with just over 175 Excel kids wearing their school caps, there was little doubt that they were still on the same team.
In addition, despite this being a school meet, it was "USA Swimming Observed" which means that the any times achieved there did count for USA Swimming. While we haven't had the chance to fully evaluate the results, here are a couple of high lights:

• Max Boylan swam a 58.85 100 Breast which is his first NCSA Junior National time and officially earns him a spot on the National Team.

• Lizzie Yon swam a 1:06.10 100 Breast which is also an NCSA Junior National time for her. 

• Kayla Lasher swam a 1:13.09 100 Breast which is her first SES A cut for 13-14.

Finally, we need to give another shout out to our amazing officials and parent volunteers. We can only host big meets like this with your efforts. In fact, your help didn't end on Friday, at the Middle School meet, hosted by NAC, we were still represented in every capacity. Thanks again for all that you do.

 Championship Meet Season Explained

• Remember to start planning your championship season now. Hotels in Huntsville, Raleigh and Orlando are already starting to fill up so don't delay!

IM Tough (8 and Under): Successfully complete the 50 Fly, 50 Back, 50 Breast, 200 Free and 200 IM in a meet before the end of the short course season or their 9th birthday (whichever comes first) to win an "IM TOUGH" T-shirt.
IM Tough (9-10): Successfully complete the 100 Fly, 100 Back, 100 Breast, 200 Free, 500 Free and 200 IM in a meet before the end of the short course season or their 11th birthday (whichever comes first) to win an "IM TOUGH" T-shirt.
Heat Winner: Place in the top three swimmers in your age group for number of races won throughout the year. This award to favor  those athletes that are attending meets, swimming  lots of events, racing hard but most importantly, improving throughout the year.  Winners will receive a "Heat Winner" bag tag.
IM Hall of Fame Level 1- Attain a Southeastern Championship Qualifying time standard in every event available for your age group.
IM Hall of Fame Level 2- Attain an Age Group Sectionals Championship Qualifying time standard in every event available for your age group.
IM Hall of Fame Level 3- Attain an NCSA Junior National Championship Qualifying time standard in every event available for your age group.
