Bill Keating Memorial Para Swim Meet
Congratulations to our two swimmers who traveled up to Cincinnati for the 2024 Bill Keating Memorial Para Swim Meet. Athletes Emmeline Perry and Joshua Strachan headed north last week to compete in a para-swimming meet which is a format that highlights athletes who are competing with physical disabilities.

Before any athlete competes in Para-Swimming, they first complete a physical evaluation that ultimately classifies each swimmer in to a competitive category. Although all classes swim together, each swimmer is only competing against swimmers in their own category.Â

The Para-Swim format is a really great way to provide high-level competition for these amazing swimmers and we look forward to seeing them compete in other Para Meets soon!

This past weekend, we had the opportunity to gather together in celebration of all that Excel Aquatics has accomplished over the past 12 months.Â
The afternoon started with the "Year in Review" from Head Coach Steven Murry in which he highlighted winning the 2023 Long Course SES Championship, winning the 2024 Triple Crown Championship and even the 51 team records that we've set over the last calendar year.
Up next, we recognized the Regional, SES, AGS and National teams from every age group. We finished up with the individual awards that included the Excel Award, Heat Winners Awards, IM Tough, IMX and IM Hall of Fame awards.
The ceremony concluded with all the swimmers presenting their mothers a rose in honor of Mother's Day.Â
While the format was similar to year's past, the location was new. A huge shout out to Brentwood Academy for hosting our ceremony in their upper school auditorium.Â

Excel Recognition Programs
Excel Recognition Programs
Over the course of the short course season, our club will be tracking a series of recognition programs to help motivate our swimmers to succeed un a multitude of events. While ultimately these programs do reward success, they are designed to be achievable by any level of swimmers, not just those with the most experience. You can always find the running totals for each at the bottom of the Excel Extras.
Heat Winner: Place in the top three swimmers in your age group for number of races won throughout the year. This award to favor those athletes that are attending meets, swimming lots of events, racing hard but most importantly, improving throughout the year. Winners will receive a "Heat Winner" bag tag.
IM Hall of Fame Level 1- Attain a Southeastern Championship Qualifying time standard in every event available for your age group.
IM Hall of Fame Level 2- Attain an Age Group Sectionals Championship Qualifying time standard in every event available for your age group.
IM Hall of Fame Level 3- Attain an NCSA Junior National Championship Qualifying time standard in every event available for your age group. Â

All of our parent volunteers play a vital role in hosting meets. We simply could not host meets in your absence. While most jobs take little training or experience, meet officials go through an educational and training process that enables them to help officiate at all meets. In fact, our own Excel officials have outnumbered the host team officials in both our first two meets. We are very grateful to our officiating crew but are always looking for new members.
