Congratulations to our Southeastern Swimming Athlete Representatives for receiving two awards from USA Swimming.
There are four Athlete Representative spots in the LSC- The Senior Rep, a Junior Rep and two representatives At Large. This year, our own Alexander White is one of the At Large representatives. Among their other duties is the responsibility to plan and host a leadership summit which they did over the weekend of April 4-6th. The summit drew 25 swimmers from teams all across the LSC and the programming and many of the presentations were all led by the athletes. Our own coaches, Benji and McKenna were there presenting and guiding many of the discussions.
In the car on the way home, Alexander White and the other Athlete Reps joined a zoom call were they were presented with the "Most Influential Athlete Reps" for the Southern Zone and "Most Outstanding Athlete Reps" for the entire country.
One thing that all four of our Reps have in common is that their terms are up this summer. If you are a 15 or older swimmer and you are interested in serving our conference as an Athlete Rep, please reach out to one of our coaches and we'll make give you more details.
The first annual LLKR (Live Like Kate Rust) 5k race will be held on Saturday, May 3rd at the Bridgemore Village Neighborhood Park in Thompson's Station. The event is being held in honor of Excel Swimmer and TSMS Cross Country Runner Kate Rust who passed away unexpectedly in September.
Kate is remembered for her kindness, determination, and the positive energy and joy that she brought to those around her.Â
The Rust family has graciously decided to donate proceeds from the event to Excel Aquatics where her younger brother Jack still swims. You can register in advance through the QR code in the attached flyer. Please join us in remembering and honoring Kate and supporting those who were fortunate enough to be a part of her life.Â
USA Swimming's Virtual Club ChampionshipÂ
Throughout the long course season, we will be carefully following our team's national ranking as we aim to break into the top 40 for the first time every. You can follow along here!
Over the course of the short course season, our club will be tracking a series of recognition programs to help motivate our swimmers to succeed un a multitude of events. While ultimately these programs do reward success, they are designed to be achievable by any level of swimmers, not just those with the most experience. You can always find the running totals for each at the bottom of the Excel Extras.
Heat Winner: Place in the top three swimmers in your age group for number of races won throughout the year. This award tends to favor those athletes that are attending meets, swimming a lot of events, racing hard but most importantly, improving throughout the year. Winners will receive a "Heat Winner" bag tag.

All of our parent volunteers play a vital role in hosting meets. We simply could not host meets in your absence. While most jobs take little training or experience, meet officials go through an educational and training process that enables them to help officiate at all meets. In fact, our own Excel officials have outnumbered the host team officials in both our first two meets. We are very grateful to our officiating crew but are always looking for new members. Ensure a safe and fair competition for all our athletes
