Excel Extra 4-14-23

Congratulations to all our 12 & Under swimmers who raced this past Friday in the Excel Intrasquad 12 & Under Meet. While it was a really short format, we had lots of fast swimming which resulted in 5 new SES qualifiers and 3 new team records! Scroll down for the full meet report!

Swimstrong Drylands

As any Excel family knows, we focus our entire age group program around IM training. We see that at an early age with the IM Tough awards and all the way through their careers with a focus on IMR and IMX scores. The results have been pretty staggering! We have found that we are now scoring points in more events than any other SES team and this year alone, are sending 14 swimmers (so far) off to swim in college!
However, there are clubs that do focus on early specialization. Swimstrongdryland.com has a great article specifically on this here.

2032 Awards Ceremony

With this amazing 2022-23 season winding down, it's time to celebrate all our team's accomplishment at our annual awards ceremony. Clearview Baptist Church (Franklin, Rd, Franklin) has once again graciously opened their doors to us for 4:00pm on Sunday, April 16th. Everyone is invited so please make plans to attend!

USA Swimming's Virtual Club Championships

We are also pleased to announce that USA Swimming's Virtual Club Championship rankings are finally available. After a long season of being down, VCC is back up and we are happy to be sitting at the top of the SES again! However, the Long Course rankings are a little delayed but keep checking here for updates.

Excel Recognition Programs

Over the course of the new long course season, our club will be tracking a series of recognition programs to help motivate our swimmers to succeed un a multitude of events. While ultimately these programs do reward success, they are designed to be achievable by any level of swimmers, not just those with the most experience. You can always find the running totals for each at the bottom of the Excel Extras.

Heat Winner: Place in the top three swimmers in your age group for number of races won throughout the year. This award to favor those athletes that are attending meets, swimming lots of events, racing hard but most importantly, improving throughout the year. Winners will receive a "Heat Winner" bag tag.
IM Hall of Fame Level 1- Attain a Southeastern Championship Qualifying time standard in every event available for your age group.
IM Hall of Fame Level 2- Attain an Age Group Sectionals Championship Qualifying time standard in every event available for your age group.
IM Hall of Fame Level 3- Attain an NCSA Junior National Championship Qualifying time standard in every event available for your age group.

Want to become an official?

All of our parent volunteers play a vital role in hosting meets. We simply could not host meets in your absence. While most jobs take little training or experience, meet officials go through an educational and training process that enables them to help officiate at all meets. In fact, our own Excel officials have outnumbered the host team officials in both our first two meets. We are very grateful to our officiating crew but are always looking for new members.
