As we head into the Championships Season, I wanted to emphasize the importance of the Triple Crown. For the last two years, Excel Aquatics has won the team championship title for three different meets. The 8 & Under Championships, the Region 1 Championships and the Southeastern Winter Championships. Winning any one of these meets is quite an accomplishment but winning all three take a true team effort.
While each one of these meets takes both talent and depth, there is almost no overlap between the athletes from meet to meet.
8 & Under Meet- This meet is exactly what it sounds like. Only swimmers who are 8 or younger can score points. Since Region 1 and the SES meets have 10 & Under events, almost none of our 8 year olds will be able to score points in those meets.
Region 1 Championships- This meet (held in conjunction with the 8 & under meet) is restricted to those swimmers who have not yet achieved an SES cut in any event that they compete. Therefore, this meet is reserved for only those athletes not qualified for the SES meet.
SES Winter Championships- The final meet in the Triple Crown is a full team championship for those swimmers who have qualified.
Attempting to win the Triple Crown means that we have a team championship title on the line, for EVERY swimmer on the team. While each meet will have swimmers, from lots of other teams, striving for personal success, every Excel swimmer will also have the chance to win a championship for their team. And that's something that is truly special!

All of our parent volunteers play a vital role in hosting meets. We simply could not host meets in your absence. While most jobs take little training or experience, meet officials go through an educational and training process that enables them to help officiate at all meets. In fact, our own Excel officials have outnumbered the host team officials in both our first two meets. We are very grateful to our officiating crew but are always looking for new members.
