Welcome to Capri's STEM website. This website is a work in progress, so please have patience! If you have any specific questions you can always reach out to me directly by email.
STEM is part of the enrichment wheel at Capri. This means your students rotate through STEM, art, PE/Yoga, TRAC and music. Each week, students have a half hour of PE/Yoga and TRAC. Additionally, half the school gets an hour of art and the other half gets an hour of STEM. A quarter of the way through the year art and STEM switch. Halfway through the year we switch again, except those that had art the first quarter now have music and those that had STEM get STEM again. Three quarters of the way through the year STEM and music switch. So by the end of the year students will have had a quarter year of art, a quarter year of music, and half a year of STEM. Kindergarten is the exception, and they have all 4 classes each week, each for half an hour, all year long.
The Encinitas Union School District has adopted the Project Lead the Way curriculum. Created by teachers and led by educators, PLTW motivates, prepares, and supports teachers as they strive to make every child in every grade STEM-successful. From the first day to the last day, we’re the STEM ally you and your teaching staff can count on. You can find out more information about PLTW here.
