The watercolor sketch, the 3x3 grid, and the Instagram photo are variations on the bike trail landscape that continually changes through the seasons. The Instagram photo at right was taken a year after I had painted the watercolor, but the lawnmower marks in the grass still furrow the ground. It was this pattern of lines receding to the horizon line that attracted my attention, prompting me to make the original watercolor.
