Mr. Howey started teaching with the Calgary Board of Education in 2019. He has taught grades 5 to 9 physical education and humanities. His background includes graduate studies at the University of Toronto in the field of teaching with a focus on the impacts of daily physical activity on brain cognition and function. (MT, 2019)

Mr. Howey's current role is teaching physical education. He has a passion for using physical movement in learning to encourage active learners and create healthy and active citizens for life. In addition, he encourages a growth mindset within his students to enable them to become their best selves.

Over this last summer break, Mr. Howey got married! Him and his wife Carly went to Tofino for their honeymoon and surfed. They have a bernedoodle together named Macaroni. In his free time, Mr. Howey likes to get outside to hike, golf, surf and ski. He also enjoys reading fantasy books and spending time with friends and family.
